Guest of the DSM club - POSTMORTEM band
Estonian rock, ironically, is behind the Iron Curtain. However, we managed to break through and find the POSTMORTEM group in Tallinn. I was surprised not so much by their music, professionally played and recorded (the Balts have always been strong musicians), but by the fact that a Russian-speaking band has been creating in the heart of Estonia for eight years. The circumstance is so unique that during the preparation of the issue we decided to find out how it is to live and work abroad.
“Our living is fine” the voice of guitarist and vocalist Sergei Shelepov broke through from afar.
- Excesses on ethnic grounds rarely happen, so problems of this kind can be reduced to zero. Of course, Estonians try to promote
their bands first of all, but if you are a great musician, there are no barriers. It’s good that we don’t have similar financial
and economic problems that Russia has faced.
Your TV channels report this. I haven’t been to Russia for six years, but I would like to go on tour or just travel. However, the
visa is very expensive. But the road to Finland, Sweden, England and other countries is open without any visas. So, the window to
the historical homeland is a television screen. Or maybe they read your newspaper...
The last thing was pleasant to hear, although it became offensive: why can Russian guys go to England without problems, but to their home for a lot of money? They would have something to please music lovers here. Despite the terrible pathological-anatomical name, POSTMORTEM sing songs about life. They have three demos and two albums in their discography, the newest one called THE CALL OF THE SEA was released recently. And they also participated in a number of international festivals.
Besides our interlocutor the band lineup is:
Denis Shelepov - drums, keyboards;
Dmitry Potekhin - bass;
Alexander Kobzar - solo guitar.
